Top Five Coachella Moments

With 178 acts, over three days, and weather well into the 90s, it’s a California dream to experience Coachella and all its glory.

The festival is the most awesome experience you can have without getting arrested. The following five moments from the weekend in Indio made the top of my list:

5)  Friday night, The Black Keys

The Black Keys had an amazing performance. They sounded better live than they do on a CD and captured the moment with their voices overflowing with soul. It was like being teleported to the 40s on hot summer night. “I wanted love, i needed love, most of all, most of all”

4) Saturday night, Empire of the Sun

Empire of the Sun was the darling of Saturday night. They really proved themselves to be entertainers, blowing their Outside Lands performance out of the water with amazing visuals and a very crisp sound. Overall their energy was magical as the Australian group rocked the outdoor stage.

3) Sunday night, Kanye West

Kanye West’s performance was nothing short of magical. As the festival’s headliner, Kanye had a lot of hype to fulfill, and although he failed to bring out any major guests during his performance, his energy was more than enough to prove that he could control the main stage on Sunday night.

2) Saturday night, Mumford and Sons

Mumford and Sons had maybe the best performance of any band at Coachella. The sound of their banjo traveled all over the fields of Indio, capturing every ear who could hear it. Such an amazing vibe, a great energy, and an amazing band.

1) Sunday night, Duck Sauce

When Duck Sauce DJs A-Trak and Armen Van Helden dropped Europe’s #1 dance song, it sounded like the entire world was singing the chorus with them. By far, this was one of the most amazing moments in my concert-going life. So much good energy in the Sahara tent — if you were there, you were going wild!

Honorable Mention: Odd Future

Tyler, The Creator and crew had an epic performance in Indio. This was essentially Odd Future’s coming out party, and the entire crew showed up in full force, ready to give the young Wolf Gang fans what they wanted. The future looks bright for Odd Future, and I’m glad I got to witness them so early in their career.

Overall, Coachella is a place right out of a fairy tale, where you get to meet new people, hang out with your friends, listen to great music, and talk about music for three long, hot, and absolutely insane days.
