$UICIDEBOY$
with support from Ghostemane, City Morgue, Freddie Dredd, Sematary, and Ramirez

There are prolific artists--and then there's the New Orleans hip-hop duo $uicideboy$, which has released dozens of EPs since forming in 2014. This frenetic creative pace befits the pair's brutally honest lyrics, which pull no punches detailing self-destructive behavior, ruminating on mortality, and confronting mental health issues. It's no wonder $uicideboy$ view themselves as part of the wildly inventive, DIY-geared SoundCloud rap movement--and were a favorite of another no-holds-barred musician, the late emo-rapper Lil Peep.

$uicideboy$ should also be considered the latest torchbearers of New Orleans' vibrant hip-hop legacy. The group--consisting of cousins $lick (aka $lick $loth, aka $crim, né Scott Arceneaux Jr.) and Ruby Da Cherry (né Aristos Petrou)--are avowed admirers of the city's influential bounce music style and revered rap label Cash Money Records. But, in a nod to New Orleans' reputation as a cultural melting pot, each member of the $uicideboy$ comes to music from a different angle: $lick honed his chops as a DJ, while Ruby Da Cherry was involved in the local punk scene as a drummer.

No matter the duo's inspirations, their music is connecting with an increasingly larger audience: 2016's 'Radical $uicide' EP landed in the Top 20 of Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and their first official full-length, 2018's 'I Want to Die in New Orleans,' debuted in the Top 10. Produced by $lick under the moniker Budd Dwyer, the independently released 'I Want to Die in New Orleans' exemplifies the darkness lurking at the core of the $uicideboy$ sound. Dank R&B beats, slurred vocals and tempos, and jet-black production dominate, creating a macabre vibe saturated with horror-movie-caliber tension. Naturally, the pair's I Want to Die in New Orleans tour also promises no shortage of moments for fans to find communal catharsis in embracing vulnerability.

Suicideboys (stylized as $uicideboy$) is an American hip hop duo from New Orleans, founded in 2014 by cousins Ruby da Cherry and $crim (pronounced Scrim). Via the music sharing platform SoundCloud, the duo rose to popularity for their abrasive, self-produced beats, as well as their harsh lyrical content and themes prominently featuring substance use disorder and suicidal ideation.

The duo are considered one of the most popular artists in the underground rap scene, and are also considered to have a cult following. They own and operate their own label, G*59 Records, under which all of their music is signed. After several years of releasing numerous EPs, Suicideboys' debut studio album I Want to Die in New Orleans was released on September 7, 2018. It fared well commercially, debuting at number 9 on the US Billboard 200 with 49,000 units in first week sales.
