SLIGHTLY STOOPID AND SUBLIME WITH ROME ANNOUNCE THE SUMMERTIME 2023 TOUR

The historical significance of this package is extraordinary as Slightly Stoopid joins forces with Sublime With Rome on tour for the first time ever. It all traces back to legend Bradley Nowell (Sublime's original frontman) and Sublime's early influence on the career of Slightly Stoopid. After initially hearing Miles and Kyle practicing while they were teenagers, Nowell signed them to his indie label imprint Skunk Records while the band members were still in high school. Nowell later produced and released their debut studio album Slightly $toopid in 1996 on Skunk, and appeared on the hidden track "Prophet," now a staple in the Slightly Stoopid live repertoire nearly 25 years after its original recording. Together these groups became the forerunners of a genre of music and lifestyle movement that will be reflected through the deep catalogs of songs about to be performed across the country.

"We couldn't be more excited for the Summertime 2023 tour," says Miles Doughty. "We haven't toured with Sublime since the early years of Stoopid and we are really excited to be back with our brothers on what we like to call the ultimate summer band camp. We're stoked to debut some new songs and play new venues and cities we haven't hit for a while. And most importantly we can't wait to be playing music for all of you this summer... between the on-stage collabs and the backstage hangs it's gonna be insane! The Stoopidheads are what fuels Slightly Stoopid. Should be an epic summer of madness!!!"

Slightly Stoopid
https://www.slightlystoopid.com

The story of Slightly Stoopid, at its core, is one of brotherhood. It's the story of Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald, two musicians determined to succeed on their own terms, creating a multi-genre fusion of rock, reggae and blues with hip-hop, funk, American folk, metal, and punk. It's the story of a duo that has not just survived, but thrived, as "brothers from other mothers"- keeping true to their authenticity, throughout two decades of relentless touring, and evolved songwriting. The duo has repeatedly created lasting artistic statements despite a music industry that too often prioritizes style over substance.

Slightly Stoopid is and continues to be a musical brotherhood that always welcomes guest musicians and the art of collaboration. Doughty and McDonald remain unwavering in their principles of independence, honoring their diversity of influences and mentors, and furthering their inherited legacy of the Southern California sound.

"Once we found music as a form of expression, as an outlet, we did whatever it took to survive," said McDonald in a 2018 interview. "We are who we are- a product of Southern California. And, we are where we are in life because of how passionate we are about the music."

Sublime
https://sublimelbc.com/

Sublime was an American ska punk band from Long Beach, California, formed in 1988. The band's line-up, consistent throughout its duration, consisted of Bradley Nowell (vocals and guitar), Eric Wilson (bass), and Bud Gaugh (drums). Lou Dog, Nowell's dalmatian, was the mascot of the band. Nowell died of a heroin overdose in 1996, resulting in the band's breakup. In 1997, songs such as "What I Got", "Santeria", "Wrong Way", "Doin' Time", and "April 29, 1992 (Miami)" were released to U.S. radio.

Sublime released three studio albums, one live album, five compilation albums (one of which also contains never-before released material), three EPs, and one box set. Although their first two albums--40oz. to Freedom (1992) and Robbin' the Hood (1994)--were slightly popular in the United States, Sublime did not experience major commercial success until 1996 with their self-titled third album, released two months after Nowell's death, which peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard 200, and spawned the single "What I Got", which remains the band's only No. 1 hit single (on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart) in their musical career. As of 2022, the band has sold over 20 million albums worldwide, including about ten million in the U.S. alone. Michael "Miguel" Happoldt and Marshall "Ras MG" Goodman contributed to several Sublime songs.

In 2009, the surviving members attempted to reform the band with Rome Ramirez, a young guitarist and avowed Sublime fan from California. However, not long after performing at Cypress Hill's Smokeout Festival, a Los Angeles judge banned the new lineup from using the Sublime name as they needed permission from Nowell's estate, which owns the rights to the Sublime name. This prompted the lineup of Wilson, Gaugh and Ramirez to change their name to Sublime with Rome, which has since released three albums, although Gaugh left the group shortly after the release of their 2011 debut Yours Truly.

Rome
https://www.romepage.org/

ROME is an accomplished musician, singer, songwriter, & front man. With deep roots in California, Rome has established himself in the music business and created a vibe as unique as himself transcribing the land into his musical interpretation. Working hard every step of the way, this Mexican-American born kid put himself out there in every way. ROME's first hit came in the form of a collaboration with fellow California natives the DIRTY HEADS, which broke Billboard records and earned him a certified GOLD record to boot. In 2010, ROME helped unite SUBLIME, breathing new life into an already amazing legacy, reforming the band to be called, "SUBLIME WITH ROME". In 2011, the band released its first album YOURS TRULY and the single written by ROME, "Panic", was top 5 on the Billboard music charts. Three years later and several tours under the belt with SWR (Sublime with Rome), ROME is now ready to make himself a household name. "This album is a bench mark in my life and In my creativity. It test me to see how far I could take a vision. The Album has taken close to 3 years to complete but in reality I have wanted to achieve this sound since I started writing music at the age of 14" - Rome
