San Francisco Fringe Festival - Cancelled

SEE EVENT DETAILS
While EXIT Theatre--like so many other companies around the country--has shuttered its physical doors since March, we've kept connected to our community with livestreamed performances, interviews, and last year's virtual Fringe. But as creators of live, in-person performance, we've been counting down the days until we could once again host artists and audiences in our Tenderloin Theatreplex, and are thrilled to announce the grand reopening of EXIT Theatre and of the San Francisco Fringe Festival. Drawn in our 2020 live lottery, ten performing arts companies from across the US will appear on three stages over the course of six performance days (September 9, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18).

Founded in 1991, the San Francisco Fringe Festival has been a place for local and touring artists to stage new and experimental works while building their reputations and performing chops. Uncurated, uncensored, and unjuried, 100% of Fringe performers are selected by lottery, and performers are free to perform what and how they want. Plus, 100% of the box office proceeds go straight back to the artists, and ticket prices are never more that $13 at the door, keeping the festival affordable for audiences and financially viable for artists.

As we navigate the continuously-shifting public health guidance on COVID-19, including mask mandates, sanitation procedures, and more, we're aware that our own safety protocols may change. We'll continue to provide the latest updates on our website, by email, and on social media before and during the festival. One thing we're certain of at this time is that all participants in the 2021 San Francisco Fringe Festival--including cast, crew, critics, volunteers, staff, and audience--must have proof of a fully-completed COVID-19 vaccination, or recent negative test results, in order to enter EXIT Theatre and participate in the Fringe.
