St. Andrew's Society of San Francisco

Founded in 1863, our society joins men and women of Scottish birth and those of the same heritage in a bond of culture and benevolent purpose, the latter best expressed in our motto:

"OUR AIN ILLS HAE STRENGTH TO BEAR ANITHER'S AYE HAE HEART TO FEEL"

Aid to people of Scots origin or descent in distress remains an important function for us. We cooperate frequently with the British Benevolent Society of San Francisco, and join with such organizations as the Caledonian Club, the PBFSCO and the St. Andrew's Society of Oakland and St. Andrew's Society of Los Angeles in special projects.
