PRESIDIO SESSIONS – Friday Evenings at 7 pm
About Presidio Sessions - In the intimate atmosphere of a house concert, experience jazz, contemporary, and classical music, and enjoy opportunities to converse with performers and each other. Offered in partnership with InterMusic SF.
The Farallon Quintet, founded in the summer of 2012, is a dynamic Bay Area ensemble and the only professional chamber music group focused exclusively on the string quartet plus clarinet repertoire. In addition to playing the classics, the quintet performs rarely heard works, innovative arrangements, and new music by living composers. The quintet is made up of leading Bay Area musicians who are principal players in such orchestras as the San Francisco Ballet, Santa Rosa Symphony, Marin Symphony, Berkeley Symphony, Fremont Symphony, Modesto Symphony, and the Sacramento Philharmonic. As an ensemble, the quintet received a grant from InterMusic SF to record and release their debut album and was recently awarded a Barlow Grant to commission composer Chad Cannon’s first clarinet quintet. Their 2014-15 season consisted of over 20 performances throughout Northern California, sextet collaborations with pianist Jon Nakamatsu, and several new music commissions for composers including Shafer Mahoney and Peter Josheff.
