There is immense power in Paula Harris when she sings the blues. It's no easy feat for any musician to harness vocal power the way she does, but she grew up around music. She started with classical voice training then moved into musical theater. Jazz and blues wasn't too big of a leap for her since her influences had always been powerful women like Gladys Knight and Etta James. After years of hard work, Harris is making waves in the jazz community, and rightfully so. Already she's been nominated for "Best New Artist" for the Blues Blast Music Awards and the International Blues Challenge. (Amulya Datla)
