Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival

Outside Lands is an annual music festival held in San Francisco’s historic Golden Gate Park. The festival is only in its second year, but has previously hosted notable rock n’ roll acts such as Radiohead, Beck, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Wilco, and Pearl Jam. In general, Outside Lands offers over 60 distinct alternative rock, indie and hip hop bands on multiple stages, as well as a fine collection of art installations. Outside Lands is especially well known for its efforts in the environmentally friendly realm. This year, the festival will take place from August 28-30, 2009.

*Who You’ll See*

This year’s lineup includes a fine roster of artists, such as Dave Matthews Band, the Black Eyed Peas, M.I.A., Beastie Boys, and Modest Mouse, all of whom will be headlining. Other acts include legendary tropicalia outfit Os Mutantes, Bat For Lashes, Dengue Fever, Matt & Kim, Band of Horses, and TV on the Radio. Plus, many more!

In addition to the Outside Lands Festival, Golden Gate Park offers a plethora of attractions. Be sure to stop by the Japanese Tea Garden, which is the oldest public Japanese garden in the United States. The park also contains a breathtaking Botanical Garden, which houses over 7,500 varieties of plants from around the world. Other attractions include the De Young Museum, which displays an assortment of art and architecture from the 17-20th centuries.
