The SF Open Studios Guide is a full-color, glossy, perfect-bound, 204-paged, 6" wide X 10.875" tall magazine that includes studio listings, maps, and artwork images from over 550 Premier Artist Members participating in the SF Open Studios program. The Guide features articles authored by professionals in the field on topics ranging from art collecting to the history of art appreciation in San Francisco.
ArtSpan distributes 20,000 copies of the Guide to coffee shops, hotels, museums, bookstores, and many other retail and tourist spots throughout the Bay Area while the online Guide reaches thousands more throughout the USA. Last year, the Guide was distributed to over 500 locations in San Francisco alone. (E-mail [email protected] if you are interested in distributing Guides at your place of business.) SF Open Studios attendees visit the mapped artists’ locations and keep the Guide as a memento and a reference.

SF Open Studios, the oldest and largest open studios program in the country, is an annual, month-long art event in October and November that showcases over 800 emerging and established San Francisco artists in their studios. Last year, 2016, marked the 41st Anniversary of SF Open Studios, and we are planning to continue strong for SF Open Studios 2017.  To create the best experience for everyone across the city, this year we have Visit SF Open Studios extended the event to include five weekends and restructured the SF neighborhood map.  We invite you to explore our city and find amazing art at every turn. You’ll discover an authentic connection to your art community and artwork in myriad forms, from painting, photography, and printmaking to glass, metal sculpture, and more. The event connects collectors with artists for engaging dialog and a glimpse into the life of the working artist; SF Open Studios simultaneously helps artists build their mailing list, gain new admirers, and ultimately sustain a living making art. The SF Open Studios event is FREE for visitors.
