Los Pinguos! Argentinian Folk Groove Band

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Come join us for a upbeat evening of Latin rhythms, reggae, rumba flamenca and rock featuring Los Pinguos! Hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Los Pinguos have been called the “Latin Beatles” by the Los Angeles Times; but more accurately, these five guys could be described as a mixture of Manu Chao’s energy and electrical live performance, with the skill and rhythm of the Gipsy Kings.

Vivacious and infectious, the sound of Los Pinguos has claimed fans worldwide, from their hometown to the streets of Los Angeles. Grab your dancing shoes because these men will have you on your feet all night long!

ABOUT LOS PINGUOS

Los Pinguos came to Los Angeles from Buenos Aries in early 2001. After playing on the streets, they decided to participate in a new television show, “The Next Big Star,” hosted and produced by Ed McMahon from “Star Search.” Los Pinguos won the contest and received the Grand Prize. They have appeared on three of the famous Putumayo World Music compilation albums, Baila!, Radio Latino and World Party. They have performed worldwide in places such as India, Bali, The Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, Italy, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, and throughout the United States. Los Pinguos’ music has appeared on TV shows like The Shield and The L Word, in movies such as Antonio Banderas and Emma Thompson’s Imagining Argentina, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and two of their songs were included in Katherine Heigl’s movie The Ugly Truth. They also performed at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival with Suzanne Vega and participated in the award-winning documentary on street musicians Playing for Change. They’ve played with such acts as Plácido Domingo, Paul Anka, Taj Mahal, The Skatalites, The Neville Brothers, Pablo Montero, Ozomatli, Cigala and Charly García.
