Description

Creativity Explored artists explore the aesthetic qualities of tattoo art and the symbolism associated with these ubiquitous historical and modern-day skin decorations in an upcoming group exhibition entitled INK.

INK examines the many forms of tattoos, from traditional designs of hearts, ships, and anchors, to elaborate almost delicate illustrations; from intricate Japanese-inspired full-color images of tigers, koi fish, and cherry blossoms, to scripted messages of love, loyalty, and in memoriam. Some of the two-dozen artworks depict the tattoos of more ancient markings while others spotlight today’s mainstream practice of more decorative body ornamentation. Artwork media in INK include watercolor, pastel, acrylic, pen and ink, paper, cardboard, and clay.
