On Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18, Gather Restaurant, located directly across the street from the UC Berkeley campus will be serving up wholly sustainable and definitely Dad worthy a la carte fare at brunch from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Brunch selections will include a satisfying Mushroom Scramble with green garlic, chives, chèvre and red onion marmalade on toast, luscious Walnut French Toast with Acme bread, currant-cherry compote and house made mascarpone; and a hearty Mindful Meats Burger with Sierra Nevada cheddar cheese, aioli, tomato condiment and French fries along with the East Bay’s favorite thin crust pizzas, salads and sandwiches. Among the dinner highlights will be Steamed Mussels with mushroom bacon broth, alliums, smoked Jalapeños, Levain bread and ginger aioli; Spicy Lamb Ragout with Anson Mills grits, chickpeas, egg, green harissa and yogurt; vegan friendly Chickpea Panisse with confit potatoes, snap peas, harissa, crispy chickpeas, capers and currants; and Local Halibut with citrus couscous, sweet and sour rhubarb, fava leaves and Meyer lemon-green garlic salsa. All ingredients- including in house desserts- are locally sourced, sustainable and/or organic. All pair well- day and night- with Gather’s 12 beers and a full range of cocktails, including the Park Ranger ; a special occasion libation made with bourbon, Ancho Reyes chile liqueur, Shrub & Co. apple shrub and habanero, served on the rocks with a slice of lemon. Thoughtfully curated wines by the glass and bottle are sure to please the most discerning oenophile and a selection of house made sodas and nonalcoholic beverages provide family friendly options.
