For Bath and Body Beautiful

Freshening up Union Square and the 100-year-old Beaux Arts style Hammersmith Building is the newly opened Fresh boutique. Built in the year after the 1906 earthquake, the San Francisco historic landmark building is a pretty setting for a pretty store filled with pretty things to make one feel, well, you get the idea.
Celebrating its 16th year in business, Fresh is a chic and deluxe brand that includes skincare, body care, hair care, fragrance and more. The packaging and products have an elegant simplicity about them that will appeal to discriminating shoppers. The bright 500-square foot ground floor space on the corner of Sutter and Grant is clean, airy and well laid-out and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly but never hovers or follows customers around.
All the scents and colors of Fresh products are enticing; when it comes to fragrance, choose from unique options such as Cucumber Baie, Fig Apricot, Pomegranate Anise, or Red Currant Basil. Eau de Parfum in 100 ml bottles is $75. On a smaller budget even soaps ($12 or $14 depending upon size) are elevated to something special. Available in scents such as Freesia, Vanilla, Waterlilly and Verbena, they are beautifully wrapped in floral paper, fastened with wire and decorated with semi-precious stones.
Top-selling products include Supernova Mascara ($25) smudge-free, petroleum-free and alcohol-free, its brush can coat lashes in one stroke. Soy Face Cleanser ($38) is another popular must-have item, a soap-free formula that gently cleanses, packed with soy proteins and botanicals; it is suitable for all skin types. Also popular are various sweet treats; Sugar Lip Treatment SPF15 ($22.50) has black currant oil and sugar of course, and is an Allure Editor’s Choice Award-winner. Brown Sugar Body Polish ($62.50) is a twist on a salt rub; brown sugar and essential oils combine to exfoliate your skin in the bath or shower and make you feel good all over. Continuing with the sugar theme, you’ll also find lots of choices in the SUGARBath collection including Sugarbath cubes, Sugar Lemon and Sugar Lychee shower gels and soaps.
All the products in the store are unisex but men may find the Shaving Cream ($22) particularly appealing with its creamy non-greasy formula that rinses away easily. Women will fall for the makeup, especially the crave-worthy palettes filled with flattering powders and creams for eyes, brows, cheeks and lips. The Spring Summer collection features the Enchanted Eye Shadow Trio ($32), a set of mineral powders in opalescent ivory, gold-flecked moss and deep taupe mauve that can be applied wet or dry and include antioxidants such as green tea, Vitamins A and C. The floral package and baby blue case will delight as much as the eye shadows within.
New products include Mamaku Night Serum ($85) named for the New Zealand tree fern, which pairs with the Anise Day Serum ($85) and the latest in their line of candles, the decadent Sugar Lychee ($48) scented with lotus, tonka bean, grapefruit and amber; it burns for over 50 hours and comes with a Bakelite lid. For gifts or personal indulgences from toothpaste to candles to bath and body gift sets, there is something “Fresh” for just about everyone.
