Annie Nations is an indomitable Appalachian woman who has spent her entire life in the Blue Ridge Mountains, most of it married to Hector. Hector, now buried in the orchard, is slipping into her thoughts, watching her do chores, and still thinking he knows best while their concerned son pressures his mother to sell the farm. But in the autumn of her life, Annie will decide for herself whether to hold on to what she's always known or follow her heart to the other side of the mountain.
Hume Cronyn with real-life wife Jessica Tandy performed Foxfire together on stage in the 1980s.
