The San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art is hosting an exhibit which explores the intersection of the highly personal experience of "apps as art" and the immersive experience of the art installation. While videos and other projections are blown up to envelop the viewer, guests will also be shown pieces they can view privately, holding a tablet in their hand. The exhibition is meant to draw the viewer's attention to the two worlds-the private, hand-held world of our smart phones and iPads and the world that surrounds us, even as we are consumed by our brightly backlit screens.
