Celeste Barber - Backup Dancer

at The Masonic (8pm)
To be voted The Funniest Lady on Instagram may be as great an honor as winning an Oscar nowadays -- and it's absolutely fitting for Australian star Celeste Barber. This is just one of the many accolades that have been thrown at the comedian, actor, writer, and Internet sensation, especially since she's racked up millions of followers on Facebook and Instagram with her #celestechallengeaccepted posts.

The hashtag series has her poking fun at far-too-perfect fashion shoots and absurd celebrity social media pics with her own "everywoman" re-creations (sometimes featuring her #hothusband), shown side-by-side with the original for optimum effect.

Before making big waves online, Barber was working the rounds as a stand-up comedian and TV actress. In 2005, she landed one of her first acting gigs with a recurring role playing paramedic Bree Matthews on the long-running Australian drama 'All Saints.' She was also a part of the film 'Burke and Wills,' which became a finalist at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival.

Afterward, she spent plenty of time on the small screen, working on 'The Matty Johns Show' as a sketch writer and performer and appearing in roles on Australian TV shows like 'Home and Away,' 'Wonderland,' 'How Not to Behave,' and 'The Letdown.'

In between, she's sold out many comedy shows around Australia, but it wasn't until she created her #celestechallengeaccepted series in January 2015 that she quickly grew into an international star. Since, she's sold out comedy shows; landed a spread in Vogue; and released her first "and last" book, 'Challenge Accepted! 253 Steps to Becoming an Anti-It Girl.'

She was also named the Funniest Lady on Instagram by WhoHaha, a site devoted to female comedians co-founded by actress Elizabeth Banks. This has all led to even more exposure for Barber, who continues to bring her witty bits and videos to social media, as well as stages across the U.S., where she's become quite the hot ticket, selling out venues in just hours for her 2018 Celeste Barber Live tour.
