This course is a condensed version of the full 1 & 1/2 day Cal-ESAR Basic Navigation course. The class covers the basics of wilderness cross country way finding using map & compass (when technology fails you) and GPS technology. The class is free however, we are a non-profit and suggest a $25-100 tax deductible donation since a similar course is offered at other sport goods stores for $100.
For 30+ years Cal-ESAR has conduced Wilderness Navigation courses for county sheriff SAR teams in California and Oregon, public service groups such as scouting troops and outdoor oriented clubs and organizations.
Things to bring to class:
Compass - bring what you have or you can buy one at the store before class
GPS - bring what you have or you can buy one at the store before class
Water, hat and sunscreen - Our class is 4 hours, we will be outdoors some of the time so be prepared.
