SF Station Blows It Up

1. Cat Power @ The Warfield, San Francisco, April 15, 2008

Charlyn "Chan" Marshall better know to her fans as Cat Power did her thing at The Warfield on Tuesday night and I am glad that I got to see it. Performing with a full band to back her up, she performed songs from her new album, Jukebox, a covers album with only two original tracks "Song To Bobby" and "Metal Heart" (which was previously recorded and released in 1998). I must say her voice is just amazing as well as sexy and seductive and the covers land themselves with ease almost as if she had written them all herself.

2. Saigon @ Mezzanine, San Francisco, April 12, 2008

On Saturday night I had the pleasure of working with Saigon, a Brooklyn rapper who appeared on HBO’s "Entourage". I really didn’t know what to expect because TV tends to exaggerate. I will simply say this guy ain't no joke. Performing in the Bay area for the first time, he gave his all opening for David Banner who himself puts on probably one of the best live shows in all of hip hop. Saigon showed that he can perform with quick rhymes and great beats.

3. Panic at the Disco on the Honda Civic Tour @ The Warfield, San Francisco, April 10, 2008

Another installment of the Honda Civic Tour kicked out last Thursday night at The Warfield with a nice line up. Phantom Planet, The Hush Sound, Motion City Soundtrack and the tour headliners, Panic at the Disco, rocked the stage as fans danced and screamed all night. Known for their great staging Panic definitely stole the show and, judging by the screams of the fans and by the rumbling of feet, it was well deserved. Performing tunes from their new album Pretty Odd as well as some fan favorites, the boys rocked the crowd.
