SF Station Blows It Up

1. Justice @ The Concourse at SF Design Center, San Francisco, March 27, 2008

The French are back and they’re bright and loud and nowhere was this more apparent than at last Thursday's Justice show in San Francisco. There was a crazy light show that rivaled the biggest bands, and beats that that drove the sold out crowd out of their minds. I must say the show did date me a little because it reminded me of my rave days with kids just dancing all night long for fun and just letting themselves go to the music. The duo is something to watch but def bring earplugs and your dancing shoes.

2. Devin the Dude @ Mezzanine, San Francisco, March 29, 2008

With a lighter side of hip hop and a happy disposition, Devin the Dude hit the stage at Mezzanine on Saturday night in front of a packed house. Rapping about getting high and having a little bit of something something was the flow out of this 90s staple of the MC scene. People cheered to every verse that came out of his mouth and to every beat that came from the DJ. My only criticism was that the show was a little too short. I think he played for like 40 minutes but over all Mr. Dude still has it in him to rock a crowd.

3. Jay Reatard @ The Warfield, San Francisco, April 2, 2008

Until Wednesday night I really knew nothing about Jay Reatard but after their opening set for the Black Keys I am a fan. I can’t even classify them -- they are a mix of speed metal and Devo without all the synths. All three look like they got lost coming from a Type O Negative concert but man could they rock it!
