SF Station Blows It Up

1. Kate Nash @ Popscene, 330 Ritch, San Francisco, January 12, 2008

British songstress Kate Nash graced the stage at Popscene last Saturday in front of a sold out crowd and pulled out all the stops. Kate Nash’s distinctive storytelling style of song, her quirky voice and great guitar and keyboard performance made me a fan that night. With a great backing band she injected something in the air that made everyone sing along and scream.

2. Lupe Fiasco @ The Fillmore, San Francisco, January 13, 2008

Hip hop is not dead. Walking up to The Fillmore on Sunday night this was very apparent with people pouring in to see Chicago’s Lupe Fiasco. With tickets going on craigslist for as high as $180, people most definitely got what they paid for. With a great light show and a dope backing band, Lupe performed songs from his new album, The Cool, and tore the place a new one.

3. The Start @ The Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco, January 13, 2008

Glam indie rockers The Start played a gig at Bottom of the Hill and made people very happy. Aimee Echo’s voice and stage presence made it a hell of a show not to mention that the rest of kids really know how to rock a stage. The Start is out on a small tour promoting their current album Ciao, Baby.
