SF Station Blows It Up

1. Bat for Lashers @ Slims, San Francisco, October 11, 2007

The UK’s Bat for Lashes hit the stage in front of a fullhouse last Thursday night and drove even my feet to move. The vocals were beautiful and told a story and the music made you float. I can’t truly classify these kids but they were a mix of indie, rock, electro, classical just to name a few.

2. Rza, onstage @ The Hip-Hop Chess Federation's 1st Annual Chess Kings Invitational, San Francisco, October 13, 2007

Even though not a single rhyme was dropped at the The Hip-Hop Chess Federation's 1st Annual Chess Kings Invitational it was a hell of a show with RZA, GZA, Sunspot Jonz, and a few other kings of hip hop killing each other on the chess board. 3. Patrick Wolf @ Mezzanine, San Francisco, October 15, 2007

Patrick Wolf, who was a music protégé at age 24 and already on his 3rd album, performed at Mezzanine last Monday night in front of an intimate crowd. Playing everything from a mandolin and violin to piano and mixing every genre of music under the stars Patrick most definitely impressed me. Mr. Wolf is promoting his new record out now The Magic Position and even though he sat on my neck halfway through the show I think he is one brilliant musician.
