SF Station Blows It Up

Los Angeles rockers Great Northern swept into town last Thursday night and showed what there were all about. The kids came out in droves to see Northern perform their particular type of melodic rock and a hell of a show it was with guitars, keyboards and drums resonating through and through.

2. J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. @ Slims, San Francisco May 15, 2007

The reunited Dinosaur Jr. hit the stage at Slim's Tuesday night for the first of two shows to promote some new tunes and some old classics. The band responsible for the return of lead guitar to indie rock blew the roof off the place from his first chord; as always J Mascis' guitar stole the show.

3. Johnny Marr of Modest Mouse @ San Jose State University, San Jose, May 16, 2007

Modest Mouse walked onto the stage at San Jose State University with a new member: the legendary Johnny Marr (of The Smiths) on guitar. And he makes all the difference in the world…I have probably shot Modest five times and this was one of the best shows the band has ever had. They performed songs from their new album We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.
