SF Station Blows It Up

1. James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem @ Mezzanine, San Francisco April 30, 2007

New York’s DIY legends blew the roof of a very sold out show at Mezzanine this past Monday night after obliterating Coachella. LCD Soundsystem hit the stage so hard the building shook, performing new hits like “All my Friends” and “North American Scum”. James Murphy is always solid with energy only comparable to his band that belted out tune after tune.

2. Morrissey @ Paramount Theater, Oakland, May 1, 2007

Waiting outside of the Paramount for my photo pass before the show was a blast because I got to see all the greasers, rockers rockabilly and mod kids waiting in anticipation for Mr. Morrissey. Once I was in the building you could feel it in the air and once the lights dimmed and the fans rushed the stage to get a closer look at the man, I knew it was going to be a good night. I have to say I was definitely not disappointed once he was on stage belting out song after song without stopping to take a breath.

3. Against Me @ The Warfield, San Francisco, May 2, 2007

A somewhat strange lineup graced the stage at the Warfield past thisWednesday night with Cursive/Against Me/Mastodon but I have to say in all honesty it was hell of a show. With Cursive taking the stage first in full tuxedos and performing a mind blowing 45-minute set. Then the punks from Florida showed why they are called Against Me and why they are oh so f*ckin bomb good. To close the show Mastodon, with the fury of their namesake, blew through the place performing a set of something that I would classify as "new metal", which rivaled anything I have ever heard.
