SF Station Blows It Up

1. Luke of The Kooks, live onstage @ Popscene, 330 Ritch, San Francisco, October 26, 2006

The UK does it again and this time they are called The Kooks; this foursome destroyed Popscene last week. I got to the club at around 10pm and the line was almost a block and a half deep of kids hoping they will get in to see the new UK darlings in a small club before they hit the big time in the US. If I were to mix The Police, Stone Roses and The Doors in a big giant pot I would get The Kooks. Once the boys hit the stage the place went bananas girls with grabbing at them and dudes wanting to be them. Performing hits from their US debut Inside In/Inside Out this genre-bending band blew my mind. So look out world here come The Kooks.

2. KMFDM, live on stage @ Mezzanine, San Francisco October 28, 2006

The Goth/Industrial kids were out in force when KMFDM rolled into Mezzanine last Saturday. The innovators of Goth/Industrial took the place by storm with their incredible vocals and techno driven beats. Their ability to mix dark beats and vocals that drive people to stomp thier feet is uncanny and only out shadowed by their stage presence.

3. Ludacris, live on stage @ Wild 94.9 Boo Bomb, The HP Pavilion, San Jose, October 30, 2006

Ludacris is back with a new look and a new sound. The ATL boy hit the stage in front of a sold out crowd of 16 thousand+ kids screaming his name. The MC simply killed it doing some classics like “Hustlin” and songs from his current album Release Therapy even closing the set with the current hit “Money Maker”. He wasn’t the only highlight of the evening with Hulk Hogan making a cameo to introduce his daughter Brook and the Big Rich Hitting the stage with E40 to close the show.
