SF Station Blows It Up

1. Ryan of Elephone, live on stage @ Popscene, 330 Ritch, San Francisco, May 18, 2006

Walking into 330 Ritch on any Thursday night is to indulge yourself in rock, punk, indie or just plain good music. On this night a band called Elephone was performing for the CD release of The Camera Behind The Camera Behind The Camera. I will say I was not disappointed, these guys rocked the house with a sound that mixes My Bloody Valentine with U2 (pre "WAR"), and some other stuff that I can't put my finger on. With haunting vocals and driving guitar these guys are on my go to list.

2. Esthero, live on stage @ The Independent, San Francisco, May 24, 2006

This Canadian-born singer/songwriter performed an acoustic set at the Independent in front of a sold out crowd of screaming fans. As soon as she hit the stage the crowd went wild, this was a free flowing show with fans screaming out songs, even songs of other people. To me the highlight of the evening was when her very cute dog jumped on her leg and began to hump her.

3. Lupe Fiasco, live on stage @ Mezzanine, San Francisco, May 25, 2006

I didn't know anything about Lupe Fiasco when I walked in to Mezzanine but I learned very quickly that he was one amazing MC. With beats and vocals that cross all genres and a stage presence that grabs the crowd and holds them this is the kid to watch.
