SF Station Blows It Up

1. Jillian Iva of Van Iva, live on stage @ Mezzanine, San Francisco, December 7, 2005

Coming to the show I had never heard Von Iva live and was very interested to hear what it was all about -- and I got it. Just watching them walk out on stage I knew this was going to be a good night. With a front woman like Jillian Iva who's energy on stage is almost hard to believe and keys and guitar that blow your head off, you should definitely check out Van Iva. Especiallu if you like your music with heavy soul and some synthetic rock.

2. MF Doom, live on stage @ The Independent, San Francisco, December 8, 2005

MF Doom is one of Hip-Hop's most prolific MCs. He has a flow of rhymes that has no end (or so I thought). Showing up to this sold out show 20 minutes late, to a crowd that freaked as soon as he took his first step onstage and dropped some amazing beats. But 30 minutes into the show Doom put the mic down and that was that. To me that's almost an insult, I would understand if he had no music or was just bad but that's not the case. So why walk off stage when people are chanting your name and you only played 7 songs?

3. ?uestlove @ Fluid, San Francisco, December 15, 2005

I bet you know who ?uestlove is but if you don't -- he is the man, the beat maker, behind The Roots. Oh he's also a DJ with a selection of records that even stopped me in my tracks. So next time you see his name make your way there and you will never forget it.
