SF Station Blows It Up

1. Stellastarr, backstage at The Independent, San Francisco, September 23, 2005

NYC is definitely the place to be for music and Stellastarr is a prime example why...With a melodic-punk sound this foursome rocks a crowd. The show at the Indie was sold out for a week prior and as you walked into the building you felt the energy of the fans as they waited for the band to take the stage. When they walked on, the crowd erupted and the music began to flow. Performing some new songs from their album Harmonies For the Haunted as well as some old crowd favorites. But I have to say there was one song that stole the show "My Coco"; the crowd went absolutely bananas.

The legendary rockers played a three song set at this year's Now and Zen festival in Sharon Meadow, and it was one good time. While thousands of fans sang along with him, Simon Lebon was as on point as ever.

3. Blackalicious, live on stage at The Independent, San Francisco, September 26, 2005

The Gift of Gab and the rest of the Blackalicious crew's homecoming was the place to be this past Monday night. With Chief Xcel behind the decks and Gab on the mic, the show was off the hinges. Playing new tunes off their fifth studio album The Craft, Gab free flowed with fallow label mate Latif the Truth Speaker; it was something else!.
