SF Station Blows It Up

1. Brian Jonestown Massacre, live on stage, The Independent, San Francisco, September 6,2005

Anton Newcombe, the lead singer of the Brian Jonestown Massacre and the only non- transitionary member of the band, was definitely up to his old tricks at this show. I am not sure if most people at the sold out show were there to listen to one of music's legendary musicians or to see what he would do...They got there money's worth when Anton stept on stage and began to speak about the horrors that have occurred in New Orleans. As he spoke he heckled people in the crowd and ordered the lighting engineer to leave because he was using too much light. But I have to say, over all, this was one show I will never forget. Anton's ability to freak out a crowd and at the same time charm them into submission is amazing.

3. The High Dials, live on stage, The Independent, San Francisco, September 6, 2005

When Anton Newcombe introduced this band with the words "This is my favorite band", I was ready but what I got was much, much more. With there 60s pop rock sound that makes your feet move and head swing, they ruled over the crowd. With tunes that moved you through sound landscapes full of life and emotion. Trevor Anderson (vocals/guitar), Rishi Dhir (bass/backing vocals/sitar), Robbie MacArthur (guitar), Robb Surridge (drums), and Eric Dougherty (keys) are something to see.
