SF Station Blows It Up

1. Gang of Four @ Download Music Festival, Shoreline Amphitheater, July 19, 2008
Last Saturday Live Nation brought us the 3rd installment of the Download Festival and although the crowds were thin all the bands most definitely brought it. My day started with The Duke Spirit and ended with Jesus and Mary Chain and, man, did I have fun! But I will say my highlight was Gang of Four who still know how to stop a stage and drive a crowd into a frenzy. Look out for a new album from the boys in the new year.

2. NERD @ The Fillmore, San Francisco, July 21, 2008
With a great new album, Seeing Sounds, comes a tour and NERD puts on one hell of a show. From the first moment Chad and Pharell hit the stage the floor shook and the crowd screamed. I must say, having seen them four times this year, that this was the best show so far with a balls-to-the-wall punk rock performance mixed in with killer rhymes. Every tune was like a flood and every step on the stage was like quake.

3. Wyclef Jean @ Mezzanine, San Francisco, July 23, 2008
As the song goes, "Wyclef Jean for President" and, man, after the nearly two and a half hour performance this past Wednesday I will definitely vote. Performing his own tunes from his current album to a mix of rock, pop and even rhyming over some great 80s tunes, Wyclef gave people a show that was worth every penny. He even jumped in the crowd in a very punk rock fashion. I hadn’t expected this kind of a crazy show, and how he is a must see for me.
