SF Station Blows It Up

1. Snoop Dogg @ The Fillmore, San Francisco, June 15, 2008

Snoop Dogg's West Fest hit The Fillmore on Sunday night with a slew of great MCs highlighted by Warren G and Snoop himself. With old school West Coast favorites like Tha Dog Pound, Western Union, Warzone putting down some fat rhymes and local boy Mr. F.A.B coming home with beats that made the place dance, it was the place to be. But once Snoop hit the stage the place really went crazy; the crowd followed the Dogg's every word and moving to every beat. I must say it was nice to see all this in a small and intimate venue like The Fillmore.

2. Islands @ Bimbo’s, San Francisco, June 16, 2008

I rarely have a hard time describing a sound of a band but this is one of those times. Over all it was a great show from the Crayonsmith's quirky rock to Despot’s great MCing. So once The Islands hit the stage it was mayhem, with the crowd surging towards the front to Aesoprock making a cameo on a tune. These kids from Montreal win my vote for a great live show with great guitars and wild lyrics.

3. Mos Def live @ 330 Ritch, San Francisco, June 18, 2008

Huge artist in a little club or little club around a huge artist…well it was both Wednesday night when Mos Def decided to hit the stage. If you were there you know what kind a night it was, Mos doesn’t really have a plan he just comes out and throws it down while playing some new tunes and some killer classics. Gold Medal Man and Preservation also stopped the house with some great beats as Mos created a journey through sound.
