Ambicon 2013: The Hearts Of Space 30th & 40th Anniversary Celebration & Music Conference

SEE EVENT DETAILS
2013 is year of milestones for Hearts of Space (HOS): it marks the 40th anniversary of the program, 30th anniversary of national syndication, and passing the program 1,000 benchmark. In celebration we’re hosting our first-ever live concert event and music conference, AMBIcon 2013, May 3-4-5, 2013, in San Rafael, CA at the Embassy Suites Hotel Conference Center, 13 miles north of San Francisco in beautiful Marin County.

AMBICON 2013 is a weekend conference hosted by HOS producer Stephen Hill, organized around 4 live 5.1 surround-sound concerts featuring 2 core HOS artists in each, for a total of 8 individual performances by Hans Christian, Jeff Pearce, Stephan Micus, Robert Rich, Steve Roach, Michael Stearns, Tim Story, and Stellamara, plus a special presentation by Mark Prendergast, author, The Ambient Century.

Join us to celebrate 40 years of sublime ambient music. Meet the artists, fellow listeners, other ambient musicians, and the HOS staff: Stephen Hill, Leyla Hill, Joseph Jacobs, Steve Davis and Sheila Gerzoff.

Tickets are very limited for this rare live event and music conference with only 450 available.

ABOUT HEARTS OF SPACE: HOS was created in 1973 by Stephen Hill and co-produced by Hill and Anna Turner. It was first broadcast as Music from the Hearts of Space, a three-hour long late-night show on KPFA-FM in Berkeley, California.

In January 1983, after ten years as a local program Hearts of Space began national syndication on the NPR satellite system with 35 stations. Within three years the program signed its 200th station and became the most successful and widely heard program of contemporary “space music” — a tastemaker in the genre. Hearts of Space has created its own format, featuring music of a contemplative nature drawn largely from the ambient and electronic genres, while also including new age, classical, world, Celtic, experimental, and other music selections. Now in its 30th year of national syndication, a one hour program airs weekly on almost 220 stations, including a majority of the top 50 U.S. radio markets. The program's longevity comes from a unique concept, consistently high production quality and sensitive, discriminating music programming.

It is the longest-running radio program of its type in the world.

A pioneer in online streaming since 2001, HOS offers free access to the new shows on Sundays, and three levels of subscription access to the archive of 1,000 shows. iPhone and Android apps are available for mobile access to the streaming service. For more info, go to https://www.hos.com.
