The Lineup: California Academy of Sciences NightLife LIVE Summer Music Series

While the California Academy of Sciences is known for its Nightlife weekly programming, which covers an impressive range of themes, the summer LIVE series is particularly one to watch. The LIVE summer music series focuses on live music (hence the name) with guest performers and DJs galore, alongside cutting-edge visuals. Now in its fifth year, the lineup for the LIVE series, which starts in July, has been recently announced.

The Nightlife series creates an immersive intersection of science, music, and art (plus cocktails!) each Thursday, and if you are new to the California Academy of Sciences entirely, its one of San Francisco’s most beloved museums, combining an aquarium, planetarium, natural history museum, and living rainforest.

Synthwave act Com Truise, LA-based DJ duo CLASSIXX, and folk-rock singer-songwriter Kevin Morby are some of the headliners, with more performers to be revealed in the future. Supporting acts include Bay Area-based six-piece The Seshen, East Bay rapper Caleborate, SF electro-pop artist SUMif, and Bay Area-based musician Hannah van Loon’s solo project Tanukichan. Rotating sets from national “all-girl, all-vinyl” collective Chulita Vinyl Club, Oakland-based all-female vinyl club B-Side Brujas and 80’s boogie Sweater Funk DJs will keep the party going throughout the museum. In between sets, attendees can keep their senses stimulated by exploring artwork from featured artists, collectives, and studios. This includes light shows and special art installations from Taylor Dean Harrison and other Bay Area artists, along with VR experiences by Dream Logic and Vision Quest that offer new perspectives on the natural world. There will also be hands-on, science-inspired crafts and creativity workshops with Paint Pens Collective, plus rotating pop-up shops from local vendors like Amoeba Records. Tickets cost $15 per person and $12 for Academy members, with premium tickets priced at $22 and $18 for Academy members.
