Nicolas Jaar, Kaytranada, tUnE-yArDs, Sylvan Esso, Ibeyi to Perform at Symbiosis 10 Year Gathering
Minimal electronic artist Nicolas Jaar, experimental sister duo CocoRosie, and UK breakbeat act Tipper have been announced as headliners for Symbiosis Gathering 2015, celebrating the festival’s 10th anniversary September 17-20 at the Woodward Reservoir in Oakdale, California.
June 8 Update: Organizers announced a few additions to the lineup, including Edit & Ooah (from The Glitch Mob) performing as Crying Over Pros and of Prcelain, along with a special sunset show by Greenland-based electronica act Thugfucker and a Desert Hearts takeover.
The four-day, mid-sized festival returns to the same location (near Modesto) as 2013, with a massive lineup that includes noteworthy artists such as Oakland-based tUnE-yArDs, electro-pop duo Sylvan Esso, experimental electronic act Four Tet, glitch-hop producer GRiZ, and hip-hop DJ Kaytranada.
Last year, festival grounds were unusable so Symbiosis was forced to skip over to 2015. Beyond the music, the Symbiosis has art, workshops, and other performance marvels that contribute to an atmosphere similar to Lightning in a Bottle meets Burning Man.
Some surprises found on the lineup include Raja Ram soloing the psytrance Shpongle set and the much-anticipated Minnesota B2B G Jones appearance. House music is well-represented by San Francisco-based Dirtybird Records‘ favorites like Justin Martin, J. Phlip, and Christian Martin.
The inclusion of Emancipator Ensemble, who was also recently announced to headline Once Upon a Festival, and The Polish Ambassador are both welcome additions as well. A few special guests that have yet to be announced are also expected to perform.
