Thursday, April 23: Yasiin Bey FKA Mos Def at 1015 Folsom
In 2012, Mos Def decided to retire his name and take on the moniker Yasiin Bey. In the words of the artist, “Mos Def is a name that I built and cultivated over the years, it’s a name that the streets taught me, a figure of speech that was given to me by the culture and by my environment, and I feel I’ve done quite a bit with that name. But it’s time to expand and move on.” His lyrical talents remain top notch and the hip-hop icon will deliver this Thursday for the Bay.

Friday, April 24: Dirtybird Quarterly at Mezzanine
San Francisco based label Dirtybird will host its quarterly party at Mezzanine this Friday for it’s loyal SF fan base. Label co-founder Justin Martin will spin alongside Christian Martin, Worthy, and J. Phlip for a night of booty tech and booty shaking. The line at the last Dirtybird party wrapped around the block — early arrival is recommended.
Friday, April 24: Ookay at 1015 Folsom
Ookay came up as a trap star with crisp snares and booming 808s. His recent ventures have dared to explore house and other genres as the producer expands his repertoire and liberates his soundscape. His show will surely mix old and new as he gets the crowd turned up with a night of heavy bass.
Friday, April 24: Paul Oakenfold at Ruby Skye
Trance icon Paul Oakenfold graces the decks at Ruby Skye this weekend. The legendary DJ was voted #1 DJ in the world two years in a row in the 90s and is known for epic and uplifting sets.
Saturday, April 25: LCAW at Audio
German producer LCAW is relatively new to the scene, but over the past couple years has built an impressive roster of remixes. His deep house tracks pair catchy vocals and soothing melodies atop deep basslines and crisp percussion to create an addictive, danceable sound.
Saturday, April 25: Kill Paris at Mezzanine
This Midwest native, discovered by Skrillex himself, has risen to fame through his club-ready, rowdy remixes. Known for his crunchy, mid-tempo electro, Paris has definitely branched out in his debut album entitled Galaxies Between Us. Part trap, part electro, all “heavy chill” as he dubs it, the album shows the breadth of Kill Paris’ talents which he will bring to SF for the first leg of his national tour.
