The 2013 Michelin Guide is Out

Besides pumpkin lattes and adorable knit sweaters, one of the best things about fall is the release of Michelin Guide: San Francisco Bay Area & Wine Country, a list of the best regional restaurants.  This year, 42 restaurants made the list, including several newcomers.

Three new restaurants earned one Michelin star this year: All Spice (San Mateo), SPQR and Keiko à Nob Hill. Atelier Crenn has also been promoted from one star to two, joining the ranks of Benu, Coi, Manresa (Los Gatos), Baume (Palo Alto) and Saison. Cyrus (Healdsburg), which had been on the two-star list for years, will shut its doors in a few days, and is therefore ineligible for the 2013 list.

As in previous releases of the Michelin Guide, The French Laundry and The Restaurant at Meadwood—both in the Napa Valley—are the only three-star restaurants in the Bay Area.

The seventh edition of the Michelin Guide San Francisco Bay Area & Wine Country went on sale today and is available for $18.99, but the list of starred restaurants is available online. Aside from the prestigious—and of course pricey—restaurants on the list, there’s also the Bib Gourmand selection of “good cuisine at a reasonable price” to examine.

What do you think of the list, especially the newcomers? Share your thoughts in the comment space below.
