Bay Area Cocktail Scene Represented at Spirited Awards

The 6th annual Spirited Awards, which recognizes the best bars, bartenders, writers, experts and more, has announced its list of finalists this year, with winners to be announced at the Tales of the Cocktail event in New Orleans in July.

The event recognizes the people and places that continue to push the cocktail industry into new and exciting directions. Both national and international honorees are recognized in 17 categories, with each award recipient receiving an exclusive Riedel Crystal trophy, plus bragging rights over their peers.

And despite being outdone by New York, there are a number of local nominees.

In the category of Best American Bartender, Marcovaldo Dionysos of Smuggler’s Cove is one of 10 finalists. Erick Castro with Beefeater & Plymouth Gin, Jackie Patterson with Solerno and Neyah White with Yamazaki Single Malts are all nominees for Best American Brand Ambassador.

Bourbon and Branch made the list for Best American Cocktail Bar. Beretta is a finalist in Best High Volume Cocktail Bar. And Bar Agricole, Heaven’s Dog and Slanted Door are all nominees in the category of Best Restaurant Bar.

Bar Agricole’s Thad Vogler also made the list as Best Bar Mentor.

Winners will be announced on Saturday, July 28 at the Spirited Awards ceremony, to be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Orleans. Click here for an entire list of nominees.
