Then at 3:30 p.m. the crowd goes wild, as they watch and cheer local competitors shoving fist-sized rolls of Spam Musubi into their mouths. Last year’s winner took the crown with just 7 Musubi rolls, but he couldn’t break the all time record of 8 rolls set in 2008 and 2009. That record was achieved only once by local professional ultramarathoner Chikara Omine. So far, Omine has not been able to repeat his feat. There has never been a repeat winner. If you think you can eat 8 Spam Musubi in 3 minutes, then maybe you might have what it takes to be the next Musubi King.
The party starts at noon, featuring live Hawaiian music, with food and drink specials. Aloha!
