Finally breaking into the technology of the 21st century, San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr recently announced that every single police officer in the department will now have an e-mail address.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that although commanders and investigators have had e-mail addresses for years, “beat cops have had no way of officially corresponding with residents or each other.”
“I agree, this shouldn’t be news in 2011,” Suhr told a group of reporters last week.
Suhr said that all officers are now in the city server and have an address they can use. Once they develop a department policy, officers are expected to be able to use the system within the next month.
