Feeling soaked to the bone and particularly Pacific Northwesty? Get that out of your system with shot of Texas flavor tonight at the Verdi Club, and full-on dance party featuring Austin’s The Strange Boys, Ty Segall, Natural Child, Moonhearts, Cosmonauts and Nick Waterhouse presented by Burger Records. The Strange Boys were originally formed as a punk duo in Dallas when the founding members were in 8th grade. Ten years and numerous lineup changes later, we are presented with the current ensemble, which features members of Mika Miko and Darker My Love and sounds like a heavy dose of garage rock mixed with a little R&B, shaken and served up. It is the sort of jingly jangly pop music that is hard not to like, and the fact that it kind of sounds like it was recorded in a cave only adds to the charm.
Also playing are Nashville’s Natural Child, Moonhearts and Cosmonauts (both from Los Angeles), and San Francisco’s Nick Waterhouse.
The show is all ages, tickets are $10, and doors are at 8pm.
