Many different things draw two people together, including a similar background, a passion for food, pure unadulterated lust, traveling, the same taste in movies, and a love of books. The SF Library has gotten wise to this and, in honor of Valentine’s Day, they’ve decided to enter the matchmaking business. Singles who want to mingle – let me introduce you to Literary Speed Dating.
Yes, this is true. No, I am not kidding. To quote Chris Daly, “It’s on like Donkey Kong!” On Tuesday, February 1 (for the straight community) and then on Wednesday, February 2nd (for the queer community), Latino/Hispanic B at the Main Library will become a hotbed of literary titillation.
The library’s event listing states that, “Participants are encouraged to bring a book they loved, hated or just want to talk about, for an ice-breaker. Windows of 4-5 minutes will be given for couples to briefly get to know one another and when time is up participants rotate to the next person.
Note: The events are for adults in their 20s and 30s only and pre-registration is a must! You can send email to ddrummond@sfpl.org or sign up in person at the Business Science and Technology Center reference desk on the 4th floor of the Main Library.
