Ethiopian. Zeni Ethiopian Restaurant offers a great introduction into a sumptuous cuisine. The vegetarian and meat combinations are good and don't miss the unassuming but excellent gomen wot, sautéed collard greens and beef kifto. A palm-thatched bar serves surprisingly potable Ethiopian wine as well as beer and cocktails.

San Jose is Silicon Valley's hub for Ethiopian food and Zeni is the best. It's great for vegetarians and also for carnivores because they do both cuisines well. Check out the ye (olde?) doro tibs (grilled diced chicken with bell peppers, onions and tomatoes) and yesmir wot (wonderfully rich and spicy red lentils).
