Zed's music is like their band name: simple and straight to the point. The local metal band plays dingy, dirty riffs that suggest early Sabbath, but with less haze. They weave in the grooves and deep growling vocals of late '90s nu-metal, but in their more melodic-metal moments also recall the Queens of the Stone Ages. The songs are hard-hitting-never too fast, but always full of testosterone, like Bon Scott-era AC/DC. (Aaron Carnes)
