Yerba Buena Gardens Festival presents RAWdance

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Jul 17-18 at 7pm and July 19 at 1pm

RAWdance returns to the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival with "Through my fingers to the deep", a FREE, immersive, site-specific dance installation, Fri-Sun July 17-19, 2015.

The site-specific Through my fingers to the deep, commissioned by the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival, features an original score by San Francisco-based composer Joel St. Julien. RAWdance Artistic Directors Ryan T. Smith and Wendy Rein explore the feeling of instability that arises when the ground beneath us is less stable than it appears, drawing inspiration from the Gardens itself - a seemingly bucolic strip in the heart of San Francisco, masking complex layers of construction and history.

Performed by 8 dancers in three locations throughout the Gardens, audience members, guided by a map, can catch all three of the works-on-loop in any order they desire.

RAWdance is an award-winning modern dance company known for transforming unexpected public spaces with emotionally charged movement. Founded by choreographers Ryan T. Smith and Wendy Rein, RAWdance is dedicated to exposing the intimate core of our relationships and identities via athletic works driven by human interactions. RAWdance is a dynamic force on the Bay Area cultural scene that has earned a reputation for pushing into exciting new territory. In 2013 the company earned an SF Bay Guardian Goldie Award for its contribution to San Francisco arts.
