XD 7 Live at the California Jazz Conservatory

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at Jazzschool (see times)
NYC based jazz-rock fusion group XD 7 stops at the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley on their 3 week West Coast tour.

Led by trombonist and CJC alum Jon Hatamiya, XD 7 brings together seven emerging musicians from the four corners of the United States. The band draws from a wide variety of musical influences and combines them through the jazz idiom to create what has been best described as "intelligent party music". Blending jazz with rock, funk, R&B, electronica, and contemporary classical music in a way that highlights individuality as well as tight ensemble playing and interaction, XD 7 always presents a high energy live show full of hard-hitting, danceable grooves, raucous energy, and musical complexity. With two studio recordings independently released (XD 7, 2012; and GET!, 2013) the band also maintains an active performance schedule in its home base of New York, NY.

Individually, members of the band are all highly regarded on the NYC jazz, rock, and pop scenes, having performed with such artists as Esperanza Spalding, the Dave Matthews Band, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Wynton Marsalis, Dianne Reeves, Jane Monheit, the Winard Harper Sextet, Lee Konitz, and James Moody, as well as many other notable artists in both the jazz and pop fields, and at venues such as Yoshi's San Francisco and Oakland, the Monterey and Montreal Jazz Festivals, the Staples Center, Blue Note Jazz Club in New York, the Jazz Standard, Jazz Gallery, Birdland, and Rose Hall and Dizzy's Club Coca Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Jon Hatamiya - Trombone, Patrick Bartley - Alto Sax, Xavier Del Castillo - Tenor Sax, Mike Bono - Guitar, Kevin Bernstein - Piano/Keys/Synths, Max Calkin - Electric Bass, Joe Peri - Drums
