We all have experienced life events that have affected our lives and still continue to have influence over us. Writing expressively can help us feel better because it focuses, organizes, and clarifies those experiences. Writing out our deepest feelings, even the secrets where we feel shame, helps to bring closure, restore relationships with others and with ourselves, and enable us to be active creators of our own life stories. In this workshop, we will find the words to heal.
This is a mixed-level writing workshop, open to individuals 18+, and it is intended for participants who have done significant work on confronting one's emotional upheavals and traumas. If there’s a story you’re wanting to tell, but are having a difficult time finding the language or approach, we will do a series of breathing exercises to ground you in your body, generative writing exercises to help you resource material from your life, and writing prompts to give your storytelling direction.
