Workshop: Educating and Parenting for a Sustainable Future - Fostering Belonging

Join veteran educators and trainers for a discussion on the importance of community, belonging, and human relationship in education and in parenting. Together, we will look at what we want for our children and our students, and compare several approaches for how to get there. Approaches will include Positive Discipline, Student-Driven Learning, Mindfulness Training, Nonviolent Communication, and the Team Playground community-building methodology from the Mereon Legacy's Belonging Projects.
This will be a co-creative event, not a lecture. You will hear perspectives from experts in these fields, but also from other attendees as together we build an idea of the way forward.
Co-conveners and panel members include:
Aaron Eden: Education transformation catalyst and pioneer of student-driven learning. Co-founder, Eliad Group.
Lynnclaire Dennis: Scientific Researcher, Educator, Author, Artist. Founder of the Mereon Legacy and the BeLonging Projects.
June Gorman: Veteran educator focusing on emotional intelligence. Founder of the Tranformative Education Forum.
Gayathri Narayanan: Founder of Myndtree, a mindfulness training resource for adults, teens and elementary school children in Palo Alto.
Jason Sandstrom: Positive Discipline Trainer, charter school founding parent and board member.
Carlee Scheinfeld: Waldorf-trained teacher, 13 year veteran of Oakland Unified School District, specialist and trainer in contacting trauma for better learning.
