Description
Warm up from the winter cold at Woolen, an exhibition of fiber works by artist Meghan Urback. Inspired by wool’s tactile qualities, complex biological structures, and miraculous physical capabilities, Urback creates textural compositions using hand and industrially processed wool felt.
The process of felting, traditionally used to construct garments and shelter, dates back millennia. Many of these centuries-old practices are still in place today, yet the fiber has also become a product of industry. Urback’s simple yet elegant artworks highlight the beauty of wool’s historical and commercial uses by integrating the age-old fiber’s natural textures and colors with its contemporary counterparts.
