Kevin Saunderson is an American electronic music producer. At the age of nine he moved to Belleville, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit where he attended Belleville High School and befriended two students, Derrick May and Juan Atkins. Saunderson, with Atkins and May, (often called the "Belleville Three"), is considered to be one of the originators of techno, specifically Detroit techno. He is married to Sharmeela Lamarsha Saunderson.
Although frequently associated with Detroit, Kevin Saunderson spent the early years of his life in Brooklyn, New York, before moving to Belleville, Michigan, a rural town some 30 miles from Detroit. As teenagers attending Belleville High School, Atkins, May, and Saunderson were fans of DJ Charles "The Electrifying Mojo" Johnson and the pop, disco, and funk music he played. Atkins and May soon became serious about mixing others' music and creating their own, but Saunderson pursued other goals first, studying telecommunications and playing American football at Eastern Michigan University. Atkins had begun recording with Cybotron in 1981, but it was not until 1985 that May followed suit and made a record. Initially concentrating on becoming a DJ, Saunderson watched the six-month-long process as May completed "Let's Go;" he was inspired to create his own music.
Bradley Exum, better known as the producer and DJ they call MPHD, is creating a buzz that cannot be contained. Characterized by his efforts to achieve a blend of techno styles that can appropriately be described as Gastrobass, MPHD’s sound naturally takes on a life of its own. With MPHD, hearing is believing: Until you’ve seen one of his DJ sets, listened to one of his meticulously crafted productions, or been possessed into a dance frenzy by one of his remixes, you haven’t seen his power in the the musical underground. With more productions to come, and more dancefloors to take over, MPHD’s proving to be one to watch out for.

It's so bubbly and bouncy in its jolly infectiousness and cheerful simplicity, it almost works as a kindergarten sing-song. Really, we're not sure what Cooper's agenda is. Is it just a bit of harmless pop mischief? Is it meant to be subversive? Is he trying to wind up – or put the wind up – straight society? Was the intention to make the 21st-century I'm Too Sexy or the latterday Glad to Be Gay? Whatever, we can't imagine many parents wanting their kids to chant along to a fun-time ditty about finding fellas for frolics. You'd never know he was once in a goth band called Mr Vampire and was a member of druggy, indie lo-fi slacker miserabilists Girls, although there is something about the naive candour of that San Franciscan band's music that's a bit Cooper-esque. It's just that whereas Girls are dour, Cooper paints the whole world Day-Glo.... there is more to Cooper than happy clappy pop. The B-side of the single is Lord Love Music, which is a slow and slurry dance tune that sounds like a funk band playing underwater – he cites, among others, Prince, Sly Stone, Chic, and Frankie Knuckles as "the ones that have taught me the most about music lately". Then again, he also rates Perry Como and Glenn Danzig, so God knows what his next single will be like.
