Saturday, February 9th, 2013 will mark the grand opening of the new home to SF gallery staples White Walls and Shooting Gallery. The 5,000 sq ft space, located at 886 Geary, will also host new additions to the gallery family in the form of two project spaces, allowing artists to show non-traditional exhibitions.
The grand opening coincides with the ten year anniversary of Justin Giarla’s career as a curator. With a clear dedication to the arts, Giarla has brought four galleries to the city of San Francisco, including White Walls, Shooting Gallery, 941 Geary and Gallery Three.
“I’m opening the new building as a gift to the community that has supported me for the last decade. It will attract even bigger international artists to the city and give local artists a more beautiful place to show. I want to make it the gem of San Francisco.” says Giarla.
The artists Giarla has chosen to open the space with, Charmaine Olivia and Chad Hasegawa, are both young, emerging SF artists, that exemplify the talent and hard work the new galleries intend to honor. In the project spaces, Word to Mother and Sickboy, two renowned London street artists, will show new works, opening a dialogue with the international art scene, and creating a meeting place for artists, collectors and art aficionados across the spectrum.
