Wendy DeWitt’s passion for the blues sprung up at the age of ten; she grew up over a store in the rural town of Glen Ellen, California listening to the music of Otis Spann, Memphis Slim, and Albert Ammons. She is an accomplished pianist and vocalist, who has performed with Hank Ballard and the Midnighters, Otis Rush, and Steve Freund and at festivals including St.Croix Blues and Heritage Fest, and Les Nuits de Boogie Woogie in Paris. Wendy also produces the annual Queens of Boogie Woogie and San Francisco International Boogie Woogie Festival.
Special for this evening, Wendy invites Kirk Harwood to join her on stage, a drummer and vocalist who has worked with Huey Lewis, Western Swing Hall of Famer Tommy Thomsen and Roy Rogers before joining up with Wendy. In 2012 and 2014 the duo represented The Golden Gate Blues Society in the International Blues Challenge, Memphis, Tennessee, and were finalists in the 2014 competition. They are now writing a third album together, to be released in August.
